Description
Detectives investigating human remains found in Tooting Bec Common appeal for information.
Police were called at approx 08.00hrs on Monday 10 September to reports of human remains found at a location in Doctor Johnson Avenue, Tooting Bec Common SW17.
A post mortem took place today (Wednesday, 12 September) at Great Ormond Street and was unable to ascertain a cause of death. The remains are thought to be those of a newborn baby born in the last two weeks.
The baby is white but the gender has not been ascertained.
We have serious concerns for the mother, or parents, of this child and would urge them to come forward and speak to police or seek medical aid.
We would also like to appeal to those that work in the medical or caring professions who may information about the possible identity of the mother or child.
Searches are continuing in the area for further remains.
Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating lead by Det Ch Insp Mark Dunne.
