06 February 2012

Description

The Metropolitan Police's Paedophile Unit is releasing images of two men convicted last week following separate investigations in a bid to get victims to come forward.

David Thorneycroft (Date of birth 07.9.61 - 50ys), a security training development manager of Newcastle Avenue, Colchester was sentenced on 31 January to 12 months in prison for attempting to meet a girl under 16 years of age following grooming and possession of indecent images of children.

Bernard Allemand (Date of birth 02.07.46 - 65 years), self employed businessman, from Tunbridge Wells was sentenced to a total of two years for arranging/facilitating commission of child sex offences and the distribution of indecent images of children - one of which was classified in the most serious category, Level 5.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh from the Met's Paedophile Unit, said: "We are working tirelessly to identify and arrest predatory paedophiles, such as Thorneycroft and Allemand - both of whom I am in no doubt would have committed serious sexual offences had these victims had existed.

"It's possible Thorneycroft and Allemand may have committed further crimes and I would therefore urge anyone who believes they may have been a victim to have the confidence to report the incident to police. We are here to support and protect you."

He added: "I would urge young people to exercise caution whilst online and be mindful of who they are communicating with - especially when giving out personal information."

David Thorneycroft

On 31 January David Thorneycroft (Date of birth 07.09.61, 50ys), a security training development manager of Newcastle Avenue, Colchester was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing on 3 January to:
