Man pleads guilty following dog attack

Gary Hindley ( 6.9.55 - 56 yrs) of Woodberry Way, Chingford pleaded guilty today ( 23 January) at Thames Magistrates' Court to allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place and causing injury under section 3(1) of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

He has been bailed to appear before the same court on 13 February for sentencing.

A 56-year-old man [A] attended Chingford police one the morning of 22 January and was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place in connection with the mauling of a six year old girl in east London. 

The injured six-year-old girl had part of one ear bitten off and also sustained wounds to her neck and shoulder.

The unprovoked incident occurred at approximately 12.00hrs noon on Saturday 21 January at Pole Hill in Woodberry Way E4, in front of the girl's parents and her younger brother.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service were on the scene soon afterwards - however the dog and the man in charge of it had already left the park.

The dog is described as a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog, predominantly white with black patches.

The dog has also been seized by police.
