Fixed Penalty Notice Unit
This unit is responsible for all stages of processing MPS Fixed Penalty Notices through to prosecution. We process fixed penalty notices for a broad range of traffic offences, such as obstruction, vehicle defects, no insurance and using a mobile phone whilst driving.
A recipient of a fixed penalty notice has two options, either to pay the ticket and surrender their licence where required or request a court hearing. Payment for all tickets needs to be in full, as instalments are not accepted.
Penalty Notices for Disorder
We process all MPS penalty notices for disorder; these cover offences such as ‘drunk and disorderly’, minor criminal damage and more serious offences such as ‘causing harassment, alarm or distress’. A recipient of these types of tickets has two options, either pay the ticket or request a court hearing. Payment for all tickets needs to be in full, as instalments are not accepted.
This Unit deals with all MPS prosecutions relating to camera activated activations. If you receive a Requisition you need to read the instructions and complete the form as requested. This form should then be returned to Her Majesty’s Court & Tribunal Service at the address supplied.
You need not attend court for the first hearing and only afterwards if you have pleaded not guilty and the case goes to trial. Failure to complete the form or inform the court of your plea will result in the case being heard in your absence and the magistrate will make a judgement on the day.
