Six months on from the disorder in London, the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is approaching its 4000 arrest as efforts continue to bring those responsible to justice

To mark the six month anniversary in Camden, we will be holding a two day event on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th February. This event will take place along a route, which was badly damaged in the disorder, stretching between Mornington Crescent and Chalk Farm Tube Stations between 11:00 - 19:00 hours.

"We need the assistance of the public to help identify the remaining individuals "

The aim of this event is to identify the remaining suspects in the investigation and try to identify suspects who remain outstanding. On both days a team of officers will walk the route speaking to victims of the disorder and members of the public. Several officers will be positioned along the route each with a booklet of images of unknown individuals taken from CCTV footage. Posters of our most wanted have also been displayed in the following venues, Koko, Electric Ballroom, Camden Rock, Lock 17 and Under Solo.

Dedicated officers across the MPS have viewed the majority of the 250,000 hours of CCTV footage recovered, with an estimated 45,000 hours left remaining.

Since the disorder took place Camden has been working around the clock to identify all those involved and bring them to justice. To help identify the images officers from Camden will be using facial recognition software. This high tech software allows us to process each image using facial mapping and identify anyone who has previously offended.

Figures as of Monday 23rd January stated that a total of 126 arrests have been made in Camden, of these 97 have resulted in the suspect being charged or Summonsed. Nearly 20% of all those charged had previous convictions for crimes such as burglary and robbery. This means that we are not only bringing those involved in the disorder to justice, but also removing individuals likely to offend again from the streets of Camden and making the area safer in the long term.

Across London there have been 3864 arrests for a variety of offences, including burglary, arson and violent disorder. Of this 2385 of those arrested have been charged or summonsed. Latest figures show that 1331 people have been sentenced for their part in the disorder with 645 receiving custodial sentences.

Detective Sergeant David Cann, said: "At Camden we are extremely pleased with what has been achieved so far, however there is still someway to go. We need the assistance of the public to help identify the individuals who affected so greatly the streets and local businesses of Camden to ensure they do not go unpunished.

"So, if you think you may be able to help please take time to look at the images or come and speak to a member of my staff as you may be able to help put a burglar or robber behind bars, making Camden a safer place to live and work."

We hope that this event will raise awareness throughout the public of the continued investigation and help us to identify those still outstanding.
