Gipsy Hill SNT seize dangerous dogs
10 October 2012
On Wednesday 10 October Gipsy Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) acting upon concerns raised by the community seized two Pit Bull dogs from an address in Gladstone Terrace West Norwood SE27.
The SNT with officers from the Status Dog Unit and Norwood Local Policing Team, entered the address with a warrant they had obtained earlier from a magistrate’s court under the Dangerous Dogs Act at approximately 7am.
"The dogs had attacked numerous dogs in Norwood Park. One dog was badly injured"
Local residents had informed Gipsy Hill SNT of the animals after the dogs had attacked numerous dogs in Norwood Park. One dog was so badly injured it suffered a collapsed lung.
The owner of the dogs, a 25 year old man was arrested for possession of dangerous dogs and remains in police custody.
Responsible and legal dog ownership is promoted by Lambeth SNT’s and was recently highlighted at an event in Vauxhall Park last month. Oval SNT engaged with many dog owners to discuss methods and the law on dangerous dogs. Many dogs were micro-chipped during the event.
More events like this and action on dangerous dogs will follow in the future.
Lambeth Safer Neighbourhood Teams will always look to act upon information received by the community to make our borough a safe and great place to be.
If you wish to talk to police about a dangerous dog in your area please contact your local SNT.
