Greenwich youth sentenced for part in Bromley disorder

A 20 year old youth from Greenwich is the latest person to be sentenced for his part in Augusts' disorder in Bromley.

Joseph Aderibigbe, age 20 (dob 04/08/1991), of Sibthorpe Road, Greenwich was sentenced to two years imprisonment in a young offender institution at the Inner London Crown Court on 24 January 2012, after pleading guilty to burglary.

"The sentences imposed send a clear message that society will not tolerate this behaviour".

Police arrested Aderibigbe at his home address on 18 August 2011, after traces of his blood were found on the broken glass from the window of the Carphone Warehouse in the Nugent Shopping Centre, Orpington after it was looted during the evening of 8 August 2011. Aderibigbe denied the offence, but changed his plea to guilty just before the jury was sworn in.

Deputy Borough Commander Jo Oakley said: "We are determined to bring everyone who committed these mindless acts of criminality during Augusts' disorder to justice, and more arrests will follow over the coming weeks and months. The sentences imposed send a clear message that society will not tolerate this behaviour".

Twenty eight people have previously been sentenced in respect of the investigation into the disorder in Bromley, seven further suspects are awaiting trial with a number of additional suspects currently on bail as police investigations continue.
