MPS meeting with the Food Standards Agency

09 February 2013

New Scotland Yard

The MPS is not currently investigating any alleged criminality linked to the discovery of horsemeat in the food chain. Although we have met with the Food Standards Agency we have not started an investigation and will not do so unless it becomes clear there has been any criminality under the jurisdiction of the MPS. The enforcement of food standards legislation is primarily a matter for the FSA, alongside local authorities. We will, of course, consider any evidence the FSA are able to provide.
