Police are investigating a murder in SE9

A murder investigation has been launched following the fatal stabbing of a man in SE9 this afternoon (20 October).

Police were called by LAS to an address in Kingsley Wood Drive at 15.05 following reports of a stabbing. London's Air Ambulance also attended.

On arrival officers found two males suffering stab wounds.

Victim 1, aged 24, was taken to a south London hospital with multiple stab wounds and remains there in a serious but stable condition.

Victim 2, aged 20, suffered multiple stab wounds and was treated by paramedics, however he was pronounced dead at the scene at 15.51hrs.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for 11.00hrs on Sunday, 21 October, at Greenwich Mortuary. Next of kin have been informed but we await formal identification.

An incident room has been opened at Lewisham Police Station and a murder investigation launched under Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command. Anybody with information that could help the investigation should call the incident room on 020 8721 4961.

Detectives are keen to trace a black Volkswagen Golf, registration LV07 FXA, which they believe may be linked to the incident. Officers suspect it remains somewhere in south-east London.

+ Officers arrested a man in his 20s this evening on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station.
