Three pubs in Hackney are currently subject to temporary closure orders following proactive investigations by Hackney Police’s Licensing Unit.

The Kingsland Pub on Kingsland Road is now closed for 28 days after a drugs warrant was executed by officers on the property. One man was arrested with possession with intent to supply class B (cannabis).

"Dalston is an increasingly popular venue for a night out and we want to ensure that it stays safe"

As a result of a proactive Hackney police cadet operation targeting pubs selling to underage patrons, both the Yucatan Public House on Stoke Newington High Street and the Brewery Tap pub on Kingsland Road will be closed from 26 October to 5 November. This is a formal sanction in lieu of prosecution.

Inspector Ian Simpkins of Hackney Police’s Licensing Unit, said;  “My team is committed to ensuring that people on a night out in Hackney can enjoy themselves in the knowledge that the venue where they are socialising is not engaged in criminality or a breach of its licensing conditions. Dalston is an increasingly popular venue for a night out and we want to ensure that it stays safe for everybody.”
