As a new police constable you’ll be operating on the front line, supporting victims and witnesses, providing reassurance and instilling confidence. It’s not for everyone. But for those who have what it takes, it’s immensely rewarding. Show commitment, resilience and integrity, and you could look forward to a career that really is as unique as London itself.
The first part of the application process is to register your interest using the New PC registration link in the related links section. When you register you will also undertake a job preview questionnaire and an eligibility assessment.
Certain other requirements must also be met in order to join us as a new police constable. Please also use the Pre application Questionnaire in the related links section, which has been designed to help you check if you meet the MPS eligibility requirements to apply before making an online registration.
As a Special constable, you’ll give up at least 16 hours of your spare time each month to help protect and support London and the millions of people who call it home.

Certificate in Knowledge of Policing
Anyone who wants to become a new police constable in the Metropolitan Police Service will need to have successfully completed the Certificate in Knowledge of Policing (CKP).
