PANIU’s aim is to reduce plant and agricultural machinery theft across the United Kingdom. By assisting Police and tackling organised criminal networks responsible for targeting this machinery and also work in partnership in crime reduction initiatives.

In 2006 the Plant & Agrictural industry came to the police to highlight the problem that machinery theft was averaging something like £1.5m per week, with related costs running at many millions more and what were the police going to do about it?

What we do
PANIU assist Police throughout the country with information and intelligence relating to theft of plant machinery. PANIU maintains the most accurate theft database known which receives data not only from the PNC but also from many major insurers in the market.
The reports are produced by PANIU and are published quarterly. The Annual report incorporates the fourth quarter, and these run from October to October each year.
PANIU is a specialist police unit dedicated to reducing plant theft working in partnership with the industry. PANIU assist police throughout the Country with information and intelligence relating to theft of plant machinery.
