PCeU Police Central e-crime Unit
Our vision: "To contribute, alongside national and international partners, towards the provision of a safer and more secure cyber environment, in support of the National Cyber Security Strategy, that enhances trust and confidence in the UK as a place to live and conduct business".
What we do
The Police Central e-crime Unit - PCeU, is jointly funded by the Home Office and Metropolitan Police to provide a national investigative response to the most serious incidents of cyber-crime.
General online safety
All users of the internet should protect themselves by installing robust firewalls, anti-virus and anti spy-ware software.
Malware (computer virus) is circulating purporting to be from law enforcement agencies. It locks screens and requests members of the public to pay a fine to get their computers unlocked. The malware infects personal computers after users have accessed certain websites.
