Special constables are volunteer police officers who play a pivotal role in the Met. Becoming one gives you the chance to work alongside regular police officers, bring skills and experiences from your day job and give something back to this world-class city.
As of 1 July 2015, all new special constable applicants will be offered an assessment date within two weeks of submitting their online application form. If applicants attend and pass all the relevant tests, they will receive a conditional offer* on the same day confirming the start date of their training.
*subject to any outstanding checks, such as vetting.
As a Special constable, you’ll give up at least 16 hours of your spare time each month to help protect and support London and the millions of people who call it home.
