Specialist Crime and Operations
SC&O is a large part of the MPS and delivers both uniform and detective services.
We deal with all the serious crime in London ranging from murder and rape, through to human trafficking and fraud. We lead on confiscating illegally acquired financial assets of criminals, and we provide a London-wide intelligence picture.
We give the MPS the capability to respond to fast-time life threatening incidents; provide a range of specialist training to detectives via the Crime Academy, and carry out the forensic examination of all London’s crime scenes.
We also provide specialist policing functions such as armed officers or police dogs. We are responsible for policing public order events and preparing for major emergencies.
This unit is headed by Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley.
